Primary Ballots are out — 86 days to go

Primary Election ballots are in and now it is on the General Election in November. This past week was full of activity starting with a final doorbelling push to Tuesday, the North End Neighborhood Council Meeting, and another successful coffee hour. We have just 86 days until Election Day in November and we are working to get the most out of each and every one of them!

To celebrate Election Night, I spent Tuesday at our National Night Out barbecue with my neighbors. The weather was beautiful, the food was great, and we had a wonderful mix of neighbors and supporters. We were even lucky enough to have the Tacoma Fire Department stop by (the highlight of Garyn and Lauryn’s evening!)

Though it was not a campaign event, I talked to many of my neighbors and answered many questions about what we have been up to for the past few months. I love sharing all that we have accomplished and hearing what my neighbors want to see happen in Tacoma over the next few years. Many of these conversations came back to safety, community building, and being responsive to the needs of the residents.

This summer has been filled with getting into the community and meeting people at their doorstep. I have been from Proctor to Point Ruston and from the North Slope to the West Slope to hear what people want to see in our city. I believe that the power of local government is having someone who is out in the community listening and make the small improvements that have a large impact.

More and more, I hope to demonstrate through my campaign the type of council member I will be: present, engaged, and committed to service.

I am excited about the next 86 days and hope to see you on the trail soon!

Afternoon Coffee (and Beer) Hours

Over the month of July, I hosted informal morning coffees at various locations throughout the district and they were a hit. We have decided to host more of them over the next few weeks but this time in the afternoon. I hope you’ll consider dropping by and bringing a friend, neighbor, or coworker with you!
