Affordable senior housing
Friends –
I hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth of July!
While most of my holiday was spent with Kelsey, Garyn, and Lauryn, I spent the afternoon talking with voters. I love doorbelling on the Fourth! Most people are home, the neighborhood smells like barbecue, and people are happy to talk.
I had a great conversation with a voter named Steve. He builds affordable senior housing and we talked about how we can get more built in Tacoma. Many of our seniors are on fixed incomes and would like to stay in our community but are facing the real possibility of being priced out of the market due to rising rents and property taxes.
I told him that I was just endorsed by the Affordable Housing Council and that I want to find ways to build more housing throughout our city, especially for seniors. While I know Tacoma will grow, I want to make sure that it remains home for our longtime residents.
Other topics I heard at the doorstep ranged from parking and crosswalks to homelessness. It was a great day to share my ideas for Tacoma and what I hope to do when I am elected.
I hope I will see you at one of my upcoming events or out in the community in the near future.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with your questions or comments either by phone at (253) 426-3784 or by email at [email protected].

Meet Rachel
I’m excited to introduce you to our Campaign Manager, Rachel Randich. Rachel managed Pierce County Prosecutor Mary Robnett’s very successful campaign last year. You’ll probably talk to Rachel at some point in the near future about one of our events so please be sure to welcome her aboard when you do.
Let’s Have Coffee
Starting this coming Thursday, and for the next few weeks, I’ll be hosting informal morning coffees at various locations throughout the district. I hope these will be good opportunities for me to connect with neighbors to talk about how we can improve Tacoma. I hope you’ll consider dropping by one near you!
