Growing Tacoma’s Economy: A City That Works for Everyone
By focusing on supporting local businesses, building a skilled workforce, and revitalizing downtown, we can create an economy that works for everyone. A thriving economy strengthens our neighborhoods, attracts investment, and makes Tacoma a place where families and businesses can succeed together. As mayor, I will work tirelessly to ensure Tacoma is a city where opportunity is abundant, innovation drives progress, and everyone has a chance to thrive.
I’ll continue to focus on the priorities you’ve told me matter most: safety, fixing roads, and addressing homelessness. These have been my main goals since joining the council, and I’ve worked hard to make sure our budget reflects these priorities. In the last budget cycle, I pushed to fund public safety and provide more support for our fire department. I’m not afraid to make tough choices to do what’s right for Tacoma.
Homelessness is one of Tacoma’s biggest challenges, affecting everyone in our community. It’s not humane or safe for people to live outside in the conditions many find themselves in. At the same time, unsheltered homelessness impacts neighborhoods, businesses, and public spaces, creating health and safety concerns. We need to ensure Tacoma remains a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and connected.
Crime prevention is critical to creating a stronger Tacoma. By investing in new, proactive solutions, supporting our police department, and working collaboratively with community groups, businesses, and residents, we can move Tacoma forward and ensure it remains a place where everyone feels secure. I am committed to building on our past successes to create a safer, stronger future for all of us.
Improving Delivery of Government Services and Building Trust
I am deeply committed to making sure no neighborhood is left behind. Every resident deserves access to safe sidewalks, clean business districts, and responsive city services. My goal as mayor will be to focus on the basics, do them well, and ensure the city delivers on its commitments. That’s how we build trust, attract investment, and make Tacoma a better place for everyone.
